It’s national Pet Parent Day! Today is all about celebrating our wonderful relationships with our pets and responsible pet owners!  We do lots of family shots here at the studio to celebrate the bond between you and your furchild. 

Look at these beautiful family shots we shot recently, you can really see the love this family has for their wonderful pooches! We adored the matching carhartt gear.  Studio dog Arnold celebrated today by getting lots of cuddles and love (and a few treats too). How do you celebrate you and your pets bond!? Let’s Celebrate! 

March 23rd was National Puppy Day! We helped The Clark Apartments celebrate by holding a puppy photo shoot for all their four legged residents! Due to Covid it’s been hard for apartment complexes to hold events for their residents to enjoy but our setup allowed for them to celebrate those pooches while keeping everyone safe!

In the time we were there we were able to shoot 25 different dogs of all shapes and sizes! We saw a large range in age as well, from a 16 year old lab to a 10 week old husky puppy (because even our senior dogs are our forever puppies - am I right?). It was great to spend National Puppy Day with such a large diversity of dogs. All of them enjoyed being in the spotlight and many of them thanked us with hugs and kisses! It was such a fun event for everyone involved and we got some pretty amazing shots of these cuties!

What is a better way to kick off your weekend than with puppy kisses? It is definitely a great job perk around here! We had the joy of shooting 6 puppies at the studio on Friday for Key to Lion’s Heart Rescue! We had a blast playing and getting all the pups photo ready!

They ranged in size from a pair of dachshund mixes to a 35 lb mastiff mix named Pipsqueak! We even got a visit from Sarah’s former foster pup, Tango to see how well he is doing! They were all playing and having a blast between their modeling sessions.

We want to wish best of luck to Anna, our current studio manager, as she moves on from Pooch Portrait studio! We have loved having Anna work for us and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for her! She’ll still be visiting our pack and bringing sweet Belle by to play with her boyfurfriend Arnold! 

Our new studio manager, Alaina, is joining us after relocating nearby all the way from Utah. She previously worked for Best Friends Animal Society taking care of dogs and is excited to bring her skills to PPS! Her furfamily consists of Cynder, a 6 year old rottweiler/beagle mix, Kyle, a 3 year old white shepherd mix, and Kestrel the goofiest 1 year old husky/malamute mix! She also has a brown tabby cat named Skylar. They are all adjusting well to their new environment and are loving the grass in exchange for sand!

Hi, I’m Belle! I’m a 12-week-old golden retriever mix pup with a spunky attitude. I like to keep my mom (Anna) busy with wanting cuddles constantly! If I’m not sleeping, I’m playing with my favorite plush toys! Mom told me that I’m going to get glamour shots soon and even gave me my own camera! She also mentioned that I’m part of a pack with Arnold, Toby, and Rooby! I’m sure we’ll be the best of furriends and I can’t wait until my visit with them!

We are thrilled to announce our new collaboration with Barkhaus, DC metro’s first dog friendly bar and restaurant! Visit Barkhaus to socialize (safely per COVID precautions) your furriends while grabbing a bite to eat and drink for yourself. You’ll notice some familiar dog models from our very own studio along with one of Barkhaus’ own pawbassadors, Brewski, decorating the interior walls!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Who else will be spending their weekend showering their furriends with all the love and kisses they deserve? We are pawsitive the best way to spend your Valentine’s Day is cuddled up with your furry friend! At least, that’s what we plan to do!!

Did your furriends get out and enjoy the snow this week? With our first major snowfall of the season, it was purrfect for building snowmen (snowdogs?!), snow cream, and more! Our favorite part? Watching Toby and Rooby show Arnold just how fun playing in the snow can be! Our favorite pittie was not a fan of the snow until this week! Do your furry friends love or hate the snow? Our feline mascot, Bennie, decided the purrfect spot to watch was from inside at his favorite window!

What’s the best way to celebrate your furry friend’s adoptaversary and/or birthday? Arnold suggests a peanut butter carrot cake smash! One of Arn’s favorite flashbacks to 2020 was his cake smash pawty! The studio celebrated our favorite pittie’s 1-year adoptaversary with all the cake he could eat made by Fluffy Thoughts Cake. Arnold could barely keep his paws off the peanut butter deliciousness lined with tasty milkbone treats! He even had his best friend, Hamlet, join the celebration as his best pawty guest!  

We’re happy to celebrate our Studio Manager’s one year anniversary! Anna joined the PPS team in January 2020 and it has been the best time! She brings joy, compassion, her artistic eye and much more to us here at Pooch Portrait Studio! We are so thankful to have her with us and hope to have her for many more years to come!!! – Sarah

Working with Sarah and all the furriends at PPS has been so incredible! My time with Sarah, Rooby, Toby, and Arnold has furever impacted my life and strengthened my love of animals. If it had not been for PPS, I would have never met and adopted Bennie, the best and most handsome tuxedo cat ever! Cheers to many more furriends, sessions, and a whole lotta pup love! – Anna
